1st day

Upon arrival at the airport we will be welcomed by your guide. He will bring us to your comfortable, centrally located hotel.

In the afternoon we will visit the Gandantegchinlen Monastery. It is the largest and most important monastery of Mongolia. We will scroll through the different monasteries, observe the daily rituals of the lamas and see the magnificent statue of Migjid Janraisig, a 82-food high statue gilded in gold and covered with silk cloths.

In the evening enjoy a welcome diner in a local restaurants.

(Hotel, L, D)

2nd day

After a good breakfast at our hotel restaurant, we will set off to the countryside in our vehicles. During this two days trip we will cover a total distance of 800 km to reach our horses and wranglers in Hovsgol aimag (province).

We will drive through a magnificent landscape of green grasslands and rolling hills of central Mongolia. On the road we will seem many herds of horses, cows, yaks, sheep and goats.

In the evening we will set up our camp on a nice spot along the road to the North.

(Tented Camp, B, L, D).

3rd day

A second day of driving. The landscape progressively evolves from rolling hills to the land of taiga forest and lush grassland.

In the evening we will arrive at the Uushig valley, site of the Ancient Graves. We will set up our tented camp in this valley.

(Tented Camp, B, L, D).

4th day

Beginning of the afternoon we will reach the wranglers' family. After relaxing in the family we will meet our Mongolian horses. Being 1.40 meter high they are often taken by Europeans as ponies. Their height is deceiving; they are renowned for their strength, speed and dexterity.

We will put up our camp next to the gers of the family. In the evening we will share a dinner with the nomads.

(Tented Camp, B, L, D).

5th day until 9th day

Today we will pack our horses, leave our vehicles behind and depart for the totally remote region of the Tsagaan People and the reindeer.

For five days our horses will carry us until far in the Darkhadiin Khotgor Depression. The depression is surrounded by several high mountain peaks of almost 3000 meters and is home to over 150 alpine lakes. Originally it was formed as a glacial lake.

We will successively pass Toom village, Oliin Davaa Pass, Ulaan-Uul village to arrive finally at Soyo village.

(Tented Camp, B, L, D)

10th day

Today we will have a day rest along the Khog River. Those who are interested may try to fish. Please bring your fishing equipment or buy  it in Ulaanbaatar.

The lakes and rivers are full of fish. Around a dozen species of fish inhabit the lake and rivers. The most well known are the sturgeon, grayling, lennok, salmon, taimon, etc. As our horsemen are fishing fans, you will have many opportunities to go fishing.

(Tented Camp, B, L, D)

11th day until 13th day

For three days we will ride in the region of the alpine lakes. We will reach Tsagaannuur village and search for Tsaatan families. The last day we will set up our camp close to Renchinlkhumbe village.

(Tented Camp, B, L, D)

14th day and 15th day

Today we will leave the Darkhadiin Khotgor Depression for Hovsgol Lake. We will ride two days, cross Jiglegiin Davaa Pass before descending to the lake. From the pass we will enjoy a breathtaking view over the Mongolian Blue Pearl.

Hovsgol Lake is a huge 2760 square km alpine lake (130 km in length and 30 km in width), surrounded by mountain chains, thick pine forests and lush meadow with grazing yaks and horses. More than 100 small rivers and streams feed the lake with crystal clear water. Water exits the lake through only one river, the Egiin, whose waters eventually reach the Baikal Lake. The lake contains about 1.5% of the world's fresh water (excluding water contained in the icecaps).

We will set up our tented camp along the shores of Hovsgol Lake, close to Khar Us.

(Tented Camp, B, L, D)

16th day

We will have a full day rest at the lake.

(Tented Camp, B, L, D)

17th day and 18th day

Those will be our last two days riding. We will go along the lake, from Khar Us to Khatgal.

(Tented Camp, B, L, D)

19th day

After breakfast we will drive to Moron, capital city of Hovsgol province.

(Ger Camp, B, L, D)

20th day

We will fly back to Ulaanbaatar.

(Hotel, B, L, D)

21th day

We have a free day to stroll around in Ulaanbaatar, to visit some museums or to buy some souvenirs before heading back home.

In the evening we will have a far well dinner in one of Ulaanbaatar's best restaurant.

(Hotel, B, D)

22nd day

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for departure
